This episode we travel to 15th century Paris and explore the origins of a traveling dancer who becomes the obsession of the city, La Esmeralda. Making her debut in the 1831 novel by Victor Hugo, Esmeralda has graced countless screens and stages. In Disney's 1996 animated film we see a version of this dancer than strays far from its original source but not necessarily for the worse. Her cries for justice feel even more important now than when this well known adaptation was released.*Lots of spoilers and opinions*
